She was only the doctor's daughter
Tattoos and rings in her nose
Listened to Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues
Wore 1970's hippy clothes
She was only the doctor's daughter
Full of fire; full of fury
She was only the doctor's daughter
But she sure knew how to cure me

She was only the navigator's daughter
Her father away at sea
I took her to a fancy dress party
She went there dressed as me
She was only the navigator's daughter
Following the stars aglow
She was only the navigator's daughter
But she sure showed me where to go

She was only the general's daughter
Maybe not too intelligent
But I always stood behind her
So did half the regiment

She was only the lawyer's daughter
Hot car and money to burn
Dining out and such we never went Dutch
But I guess I'll never learn
She was only the lawyer's daughter
But half ashamed that she knew me
She was only the lawyer's daughter
But she sure knew how to screw me.

I know most will never know why i will say this but I believe it's true....this reminds me of a 1990's Rush song.... has a similar feel....and that is brilliant...even your vocal tonations have a hint of Geddy Lee.... I know none of this was intentional but it attests to the level of musician that you are Ray....
clever words too

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

Definitely a rocker. Excellent playing, songcraft and particularly amusing lyrics on this one Ray.

Kenneth

A little short Ray!
Great songcrafting here , and some smokin' lead playing too.
Love it, and the singing as usual, is great.

Fine rocker Ray, love the hook into lead break. Really grabbed me and didn't let go. I agree with Kenneth, left me longing for more of those hot leads!

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

First of all, thank you for putting the lyrics for the few non-English speakers, it's nice
Ray, you really compose very singular and original texts, it's really well constructed

...and what a musician! but well, I begin to know you a little

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

A nice idea for a song with some lovely lines -

I took her to a fancy dress party
She went there dressed as me

Executed beautifully as always.

A cool rocker Ray! Great musicianship and wordsmithing. I like especially the lines:

She was only the lawyer's daughter
"But half ashamed that she knew me
She was only the lawyer's daughter
But she sure knew how to screw me."

WEll done!

DarrenG / The Devil's Toupee

Hey Ray, I remember hearing this great song back on mp3u. Great to hear it again. The lyrics are class as always, and tell a good story, with some funny lines :) guitar work and lead solo brilliant. :) Darren
