i recorded this one about a month ago using my new mics https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=30558
however i wasn't happy with my vocals, so i did a slight remix of the music on my macbook and imported the music to my MicroBR. I am a lot more comfortable doing my vox on the MBR and have some tweaked presets as go to effects for vocals. This one i used the fornylon setting, recorded to two tracks using tap delay and noise reduction and getting a faux stereo effect. Much happier with this take i also tweaked one word in the lyric and i think sang a bit more laidback.
anyway
It is what it is.
When you pull at that thread
And watch the world unfurl
Around you
Please don't pick at that scab
Leave it well alone
Or it will never mend

I need to keep it together
Before it all falls down
I've got to hold it together
Or we might just drown

When you take the wrong turn
And don't know which way to go
You feel lost in the world
Completely out of control

I need to keep it together
Before it all falls down
I've got to hold it together
Or we might just drown
In our sorrows
And our tears
In our sorrows
And our tears

You need to make some space
But you can't let go
And you hold too tight
You push away the thing
You love the most
Despite yourself

I need to keep it together
Before it all falls down
I've got to hold it together
Or we might just drown
In our sorrows
And our tears

I really like this one... too.... the bass vibrates....has a nice life of its own (and rather U2 like which is fab)....and the cool, soft, mellow keyboard also resonates kind of like "With Or Without You"..... and that dreamy little string part....I'd be very proud of this one.....

on second, third, and 4th listen....your vocals have a hint of Peter Gabriel to me...and that sounds great...on Peters softer side...

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Great song, James. The angst and emotion is palpable. The music is a perfect foundation.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

I enjoyed this immensely.  Makes me wonder if you were too hard on yourself in earlier incarnations. Lovely mix as well (although to be a prat, the sidestick portions seem too loud/distracting to me. I wouldn't say anything, but I love this a lot).

I just love when your voice seems to float over the music. You are super talented.

I knew I was missing ForNylon....... ;) This is much more cohesive Jim. It has the charm and great sounds of the original but the vocals sit much more nicely in the mix.

Recording vocals is tough. As is writing lyrics. But you did a great job on both here.

Beautiful, really beautiful (great work on the drums), I'm with Frank, the emotion is palpable.
