Hi all, hope everyone is well and keeping as safe as possible. Here's another boy leaves girl, girl leaves boy story, just something that sprung up while I was working on something else so production is not great, hope you enjoy.        Willie

p.s. If anyone is worried about my marital status, we've been married 48 years but I rarely let her listen to any of my songs. ;D

Rickenbacker 12 String, Fender Strat, Fender Precision, drums from GarageBand.

You can say what you want to
You can tell me everything is alright
You can tell me your stories all night

You can cry if you want to
You can break down while you're telling me lies
You can tell me that you were just out with the guys

But I know you were out with him
I got friends and you were seen
They couldn't wait to let me know
They saw you kissing in a movie show

Instrumental

You can say it was just for fun
You can say it was just the one
You can say it ain't doing no harm

But I know you were out with him
I got friends and you were seen
They couldn't wait to let me know
They saw you kissing in a movie show

I say we're all through
You say it just ain't true
But I can't trust you anymore

Instrumental

You can say what you want to
You can tell me everything is alright
You can tell me your stories all night

Hi Willie.... your lyrical creations are pretty diverse... I like them... and after all they are just songs right?  My wife wouldn't want to listen to most of mine anyway... she does not like electric guitars or rock and roll much...
sometimes you write about stuff no one would touch and I like that... and you definetely have your own sound... which is fantastic btw... and I learned from one of your posts that you mostly use chorus and comptression....
I listen to you alot...

Cracker of a song, Willie. Nice arrangement and a great sound. As for the lyrics - we've all been there at some point.

A great song as always Willie - nothing pisses me off more than people assuming my songs are real and my husband never listens to any of mine that I post on here either - although to be fair he used to come to 90% of my gigs.

48 years though - congratulations!

48 years is my takeaway from your post. Super phenomenal.

I always thought you did overdubbed six strings with or without chorus. When did you get the Ricky? Sounds great. It makes that first solo sound so iconic.

Always love your posts.

I don't subject my wife to most of my songs but if I think it is an important song, such as the one I wrote about the first Christmas after losing my dad (Advent in Blue) then I send them to her.

I think it's important to let people know that songs are stories, and that as such, one should not assume they are non-fiction.

Cool song, Willie and love that signature sound you have with the jangling 12-string.

That Ricky jangle is so gorgeous. And this is fine, foot-tapping classic rock and roll. Production sounds absolutely fine to me. Nice little solo at the outro too. Fantastic stuff.

Brilliant.  Jangly brilliant - I love the sound of your Ricky!

48 years of marriage is something to be congratulated and admired.  I think Mrs C and I are up to 33 years so far and that seems a long time - in a good way (he adds swiftly!).
I seldom write lyrics so "is this true" is not a problem I have encountered.

Great song Willie.
