Hi guys and gals have,t been around in a while, stuff happening so haven't being doing much music or anything else.
This is the first time I've used my Zoom R24, bit of a learning curve as with anything your not familiar with, used  a Sqiure tele custom, Ibanez bass, Yamaha keyboard and a drum loop still to get my head around the drum sequencer on the R24.
I,ve listened back and from some reason to my ears since I,ve transferred the wav to the PC the vocal seems a lost, maybe it happen in Audasity, don,t really know.
Sorry for not commenting so much but I,ll get back to it soon.

PS this kinda came from a loop thing I did a couple of months ago on utube not exactly the same but similar.

nice cool track...kind of reminds me of moby....some of the music used in the Bourne Movies...and that was cool stuff.... Did you use the installed mics on the Zoom?... I also have an R24 and recently started using the mics...they actually work very well... I have not tried the drums at all but I do use the metronome... I thought your vocals sounded pretty well placed in the mix...but then again...you could give the tracks to 10 different people to mix and you would get 10 different mixes...because we all have our preferences....and that is one of the things I love about mixing is the possibilities...the creativity it can bring....
really liked your guitar strokes here too....
I record alot on my Boss BR1600 but lately I have been incorporating both...and sometimes I mix on bandlab and other times on the zoom or the Boss....and since I now do all my mixes at -6 to -4 db and then use a mastering service I can mix more on the zoom than I used to ....because the one thing I will never do is master on the zoom...it just doesn't have the balls without distorting for that although I can get a good master off the Boss if I want to... I really like the looping feature on the zoom too...use that alot... I still have a lot to learn about DAW but I can see where all 3 can benefit...can't wait to hear some more John....

I like the song but I think your ears are right found myself wishing the vocal was a little more to the front to stand out more. But other than that sounds like you are getting the new toy dailed in

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

This has sooo good groove that my toe is tapping on the floor! To my ear this has late night club vibe.

Fine job, John!

Great tune! As mentioned, little more push to the vocal wouldn't hurt but even as is you have good instrument spacial distribution so it's coming through clearly. If the drum track is separate however, maybe try one without the swing element as to my ear it seems to fight the cool grove you have going.

That's a nice slinky, bluesy groove you have going there. Works really well with the gritty vocal. Excellent hooks too. It's a winner!

Ferryman_1957

I agree with Tim, that's a nice groove you've got going there John with some lovely guitar work. I think "slinky" is a good way of describing it! The vocals sound great, a really good performance. I would mix them more upfront but they don't sound lost. I guess it depends on what you were going for with the mix. Overall, it's a great track and it's good to hear you working with your new kit. Looking forward to more soon.

Real nice John. You have a cool blues vibe happening here. As far as the vocal level.....I can hear all the words clearly because it's not fighting for space. So well done there. To my ears it's fine as is but if you chose to up it a little the song would still have a cool groove to it.

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

I like the song. Your guitar work is tight and the vocals are enjoyable.  The "Oh, Baby" is a great hook.  I can imagine some strategically placed embellishments, like a couple of string falls here and there.  Nice.

Thanks everyone for there comments, might  go for a re-mix and beef up the vocal.
Hi Stephen used a Behringer c1u condenser really  quite  cheap but seemed to work well with try the Zoom on board mics to compare.

Thanks  again  everyone     John
