So, I was trying to do another psychedelic track.
I tried to sing "let it be" to this, however the vocals simply got lost inside the vortex. Plus I probably would have been shunned on Songcrafters  :) I did manage to sing it, but it sounded yucky, so abandoned the idea.

The sitar is the EHX Ravish Sitar pedal, a wacked out and wild pedal, but very cool. The drums were a mix of the electribe and the Br1600 drum machine. I wanted some other that 4/4. I had to work out how to program the BR1600 drums, which I managed to do without reading the manual :-) The electribe excels at strange and squelchy sounds - plus you can play along in real time.

A strange piece, can't quite figure out if its 3/4 or 4/4. Playing more than one time signatures at the same time is the definition of polyrhythms, hence the name. In fact

"Polyrhythm is the simultaneous use of two or more rhythms that are not readily perceived as deriving from one another, or as simple manifestations of the same meter. The rhythmic layers may be the basis of an entire piece of music (cross-rhythm), or a momentary section."

It was fun, but difficult to play, I think I wanted to play in standard 4 time so was fighting the time signature. I really want to do a 5/4 tune .....

*** There are a few comments about hearing 3/4 or 4/4 = there is a 3/4 beat playing the entire time on the BR1600 drums (you can hear it play in the last couple of bars in the outro during fade out). The electribe drums are in 3/4 and if you listen to the bass line its playing (mostly) a 3 beat phrase (1-2-3, 1-2-3). However, mainly due to my incompetency, the sitar is playing 4/4 as my natural sense of how things should be. The "chorus" seems to drift back into 4/4, but the verse bass line should bring it back into 3/4 ..... in theory .... I would say, this was not planned, just how it turned out. I wanted to do a tune in a time other than 4/4 for once, but was struggling with my internal 4/4 demons. However, it does give the tune some tension, which is interesting, and I actually a little bit happy that some are hearing 3 and some are hearing 4, I think that's really cool and the polyrhythm is doing its job :-)  ***

Funny, but I'm only hearing the 4/4.  But I do like it very much.  Great and different sounds.

And I only hear the 3/4 beat. I always liked polyrhythms. You hear them a lot in leads and you wonder, is it ever going to resolve? Normally triplets over 4/4 maybe?  This is just the opposite I think (but I'm the drummer that can't count...) :P

Really trippy and driving. Very nice piece of work. 8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

big sound....great sound...yes I can count the 3 -4 out...  good stuff... I think you should try a version with the vocals just for fun and place it in the post... it doesn't need it...it is really good as an instrumental...but even if you did something else that would be cool..... I've been using the BR1600 for about 10 years now (at least in spurts anyway) and i can honestly say that I only used the drums like twice.... they don't sound bad though...The BR1600 is a crazy good versatile machine...too bad they won't come out with an upgrade with an SD memory.... their on board effects, mastering etc are really good as old as they are...I can only imagine what they could do now...but most everyone is into DAW now so I don't think we will ever see Boss do anything like it again....they seem to sell only very small portables now...

Very, very, very cool Bruno! I could hear the 4/4, 3/4, B-fore and the B-three, lol. All I know is it was a great listen that made my brain go over here, over there and around in circles all while trying to hang on to that 4/4 carousel horse. The sitar pedal sounded fantastic. Well done my polyrhythmic friend!
