Since by the voting it doesn't appear that songs about "loneliness" will be the theme of the upcoming mini-fest, I figured I wouldn't save this one and share it now.  A bit more uptempo vibe than some of my recent songs (considering it is a sad topic).  Mix of acoustic, electric, bass guitars, piano, 3-part vocal harmonies, a wee bit of harmonica at the end......and my still learning drum arrangement.   Hope you'll give it a listen.

Never Be Lonely        ©2020

Spent the day watching TV
Nobody called on the phone
Voices echo around her
She was the only one home

Her words just fly out the window
If they don't fall on deaf ears
Knew how to socially distance
Long before the virus was here

Chorus:

No one should ever have to be lonely
No one should ever live feeling sad
Finding someone to call them their only
Was one thing she never had........................ never had

Views her life through a blindfold
Prays the heartache will end
The simple truth lies within her
Like an invisible friend

Repeat chorus

Bridge:
Each day is the same, the same old refrain
Ever-present but not always clear
Hoping that someone will hear

Spends her days watching TV
Waits for a call on the phone
Each day a series of reruns
Reflections of life spent alone

repeat chorus twice
"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Has a kind of seventies feel, but still feels fresh at the same time. I guess good music is timeless. Great song and great lyrics.

A beautiful song! So well played and sung and so well written!  Great harmonies and that wee bit of harmonica in the end was a very good idea. %)!

Greeny

Sheer class. Great hooks, lovely production, slick performance. What's not to like? Getting a slight Buffalo Springfield / Neil Young vibe in places. Very cool indeed.

Ferryman_1957

Lovely catchy melodies, beautiful harmonies and great guitar sounds, a lot to like here. A really nice lyric as well, very poignant and well-observed.  Great work all round!

Redler

Catching up on stuff I've missed...

... and WOW, this sounds so good!!

Lyrics - woah... sad...

We have an elderly neighbour who we were all worried about like this (husband died just before) ... but when I met her to actually talk to face-to-face (socially distanced of course!!) over the bins, she just laughed and said she couldn't see what the fuss was about - she was having the best time she'd had for years, and that was partly why none of us could contact her!

   All that I need
Is just a piece of paper
To say a few lines
Make up my mind
So she can read it later
When I'm gone
