Again another re worked version with some lyrical changes so that they actually mean something. I remember who i wrote this about and why and i also remember at the time i couldn't think of the lyrics to portray my feelings but that seems to have changed 20 years down the line (lol)

The drum track took me 3 days.....................................

(Check out the original live version also on my jukebox)

Only 3 days? (Drums) LOL - I have NIGHTMARES over drums.

Anyhooo... This track - yesss...

Rhythm section, guitars, vox, yep... Mighty cool.

It's taking me back to gigs in the back rooms of music pubs... an improbable number of bands on the bill... all paid in "half-price tickets"... about three people actually watching each band, plus all the other bands looking on suspiciously... There was some DROSS on those nights, and some unbelievably TALENTED people... But everyone was actually judged on the number of people who showed up for an unknown band... (on a night of completely jumbled genres) ... So, we were all "failures" in the eyes of the venue...

This "band" I'm listening to right now is one that me and my bass-player would have been nodding our heads and tapping our feet to (and eyeing up their girlfriends!) ... but our drummer would have been going "it's a bit punky, isn't it?" ;D

It's kinda cool working through the back catalogue, isn't it? I do it on and off. I've got songs that were used by bands but never recorded, and I've got all this other stuff that the bands didn't want or I didn't want them to f*ck-up... Sometimes I find stuff that makes me go "why can't I do stuff like this anymore?? I was a genius... where did it go? Why didn't I make any money? etc..." other times it can be "oh my word, this is embarrassing, I thought it was good, how can I publish it now with these lyrics?!"

I think I can probably beat you on timescales... I'm still not decided on finishing this one but, if I do... I have this song on the machine... found it when I started up again in April... the recording is about 2014 or so but stalled due to musically lethargy... and this song is the second song I ever wrote... in... August 1978! (And I remember the girl... and her mother... AND, so far, I have not fiddled with the lyrics! ;D)

I think you did well with the drums on this one Dan. I like the counterpoint of the rim shot part with the full on rocky parts, that works really well. This is a great rocker that has clearly stood the test of time, and your productions are all sounding pretty darn polished now. You are really getting back into the swing of things....

I can hear why you spent 3 days on getting the drums finished....it was well worth the effort! I like what you did with the snare sound and level. I have a lot of songs I would like to go back and redo, specifically the drums. But I tend to leave them alone because that was then and this is now...but that's just me. I like this song and the mix, well done.

You're "a wizard" to write catchy and grooving pop tunes like this! Three days of making drums, that's a long time, but it sounds perfect! Excellent job on each way here...

Those drums are great. It really is worth spending a bit of time getting an interesting drum beat going as opposed to a looping beat the whole way through. It makes a massive difference most of the time especially on a track like this that needs a lot of light and shade. Great tune Dan.

The drum effort was definitely worth it. The whole song is fabulous, and I'm really into your lead guitar tone. Brilliant stuff.
