Henri Salvador, born in Cayenne, Guyana, on July 18, 1917 and died in Paris on February 13, 2008, is a French singer and comedian. Composer and guitarist, he began playing in French jazz orchestras. His long career (begun in the 1930s) took on a new dimension when he began a singing career in 1948.

We owe him many songs that are still in our memories today: Syracuse ; Maladie d'amour ; Le Loup, la Biche et le Chevalier (Une chanson douce) ; his cover in French Le lion est mort ce soir The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Jardin d'hiver...

He and Sacha Distel are the only two French variety singers to appear in the Dictionnaire du Jazz, each having known Ray Ventura well, Sacha Distel being his nephew and Henri Salvador, at his beginning, singer in his orchestra.

"Faire des ronds dans l'eau" is a song of Benjamin Biolay and aren Ann

In the screen, lyrics and translation

Quand on oublie, hélas

I've been waiting for centuries
Under the draft shield
The desert wind makes me lie down
Lie down under the draft shield
Under the white sand
Close to the sea next door

A palace, a luxurious hotel
To see the passing of time
I'm not in the picture.
I'm by the water's edge
Being alive is not enough or too much

I know it's nothing but I prefer
The only thing I know how to do
Rounds in the water
The wild grasses and the river
The beaches of Finistère
And the sea

I've been hearing for centuries.
Passing footsteps
The water from the fountain and the rain
The rain that falls on passers-by
And on the screen
Very close to the Seine in the shelter

A palace a palace a palace
When we forget, unfortunately
I didn't see the time pass.
The suns go to bed
Being alive is never too much or enough

I know it's nothing but I prefer
The only thing I know how to do
Rounds in the water
The wild grasses and the river
The beaches of Finistère
And the sea....

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
