"500 Miles" (also known as "500 Miles Away from Home" or "Railroaders' Lament") is a song made popular in the United States and Europe during the 1960s folk revival. The simple repetitive lyrics offer a lament by a traveller who is far from home, out of money and too ashamed to return.
The song is generally credited as being written by Hedy West.

Song: Janpol1953
Acoustic Guitar: Janpol1953 6 strings Lowden
Other instruments: "Band in a box" software

The background of the video is issued from a very famous picture entitled "Lunch atop a Skyscraper,"(September 1932).
For the United States, 1932 was a year that took place in the context of the Great Depression. However, the constructions continue, as that of the RCA Building. This skyscraper, which will become  today the 30 Rockefeller Plaza, is part of the Rockefeller Center.
