Came across some old DVD's of concerts I'd recorded off the telly ages ago, I love coming across stuff I haven't heard in ages.

One of them was a Nick Lowe concert recorded at the LSO in London, some great songs on there, thought I would have a go at one or two of them.

I love his lyrics in all of his songs, in my mind he's paints a great picture.

Anyway this is my rendering of "What's So Funny 'bout Peace Love And Understanding"

Cheers

That was a nice listen, Ronnie.  Your voice has a little of the Roy Orbison about it, to my ear.

What a cover, it's like George Jones covering Nick Lowe. Wonderful vocal and arrangement.

Thanks for the comments guys.

never crossed my mind about being anywhere in the same cosmos as Roy Orbison, (but i'll take it). (No backsies)

He was and still is a personal favourite of mine and I have tried many times to cover some of his songs, but his range was way way out of my ability.

I remember once trying to record "crying" after seeing himself and KD Lang doing it, I got as far as starting the second verse and then was nearly having a connery trying to sing it. what made it a bit more frustrating was Roy looked so laid back singing the high bits, and I was red faced and in tears, almost unable to breathe, not fair, but I suppose if we all could do it like Roy and KD then we would all be on stage. As the years go by I have contented myself with the fact that aint ever gonna happen.

Cheers

Greeny

I'm a big Nick Lowe fan, and I really enjoyed his acoustic version of this. You're right - he's such a great (and underrated) lyricist. I often play this one myself.

You've done a smashing job with this. It hits just the right spot. And I agree that there's a touch of the Big 'O' in your vocal. Beautifully sung and played - couldn't be any better :-)
