I'm So Restless – Roger McGuin and Jacques Levy
From McGuinn's 1973 self-titled solo album

Vocal, guitar and harmonica in one live take recorded to 4 separate tracks in Sonar.

Track 1 - Vocal mic: AT C-87 MKII
Gobo: Set up a music stand with chair cushion on it between Vocal Mic and Guitar Mic to help create some isolation between the Vocal Mic (on top) and the Guitar Mic (below). This did help but of course still some bleed of guitar onto this track.
Track 2 - Guitar mic: Sure SM-57 at about the 12th fret.  Very little vocal came through on this track.
Track 3 – Direct In line from the Guitar: Seagull 12-string acoustic, cedar top with LR Baggs electronics
Track 4 – Slap-Back Echo from the Vocal via MideVerb 4

thanks for listening,

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Terrific version, love it all, the vocals, harmonica and guitars ring like a bell. Superbly played and recorded!

Dear Lord this is great - and I'm gobsmacked that you got it all in a single take! Love all the production details and the clean recording (and the pics of your setup). But the performance is the thing. And it's perfect!

I'm a bit ashamed to say that I don't know the original song, but your version will send me to McGuinn's album.

Fantastic, hoop. Seriously so. :)

...... good idea! Have you tried with an extruded polystyrene sound insulation plate for example?

like it for example;

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

The performance is fantastic.

Sounds to me like the setup succeeded in creating some separation.  It's easier for me to pickup with the speakers than with the cans, but the strength of the guitar seems to be pushed left a bit.  At any rate, both the guitar and the vox come out clear and clean.

Well done.

Let it be known, there is a fountain, that was not made, by the hands of men.

Very well done Hooper! I can hear the separation and clarity so I say your thought out, make do set up worked excellent! Having said that, it's your performance that really shines here. The vocal, guitar, and harp are all spot on!
