Well... when I first moved to Colorado I was hoping it would inspire me to write more originals... well I guess a parody is about as good as I have done thus far. Now that the studio is set up... I'm getting a lot more involved with music (the way it should be).... Anyhow I've always been a fan of John Denver... Mr. Denver... If you're up there listening if have nothing but respect for you and I love your music. This is my way of paying my respect to a great artist... his legacy will live on forever!!!

With the same context of the original song... this one is about a young man returning home to Colorado after being gone for many years only to come home and find out how much things had changed!!!

This is my submission for past fest revisited (Parody Fest)... Not sure if this was supposed to go into originals... I kinda view parodies as covers.

inspired by:

Rocky Mountain High (A parody)
By Rata tat tat

He was laid out on the floor after his 27th beer
A coming home like he'd never seen before
All his friends were right beside him
As he tried to raise his head to find a "KI"
He thought he'd dropped on the floor
When he got back to the Mountains
Some things had really changed
All his alcoholic friends now toked on bongs
All his contacts been broken but he didn't really care
Cause the dispensary was 2 miles down the road

Chorus
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain High
John Denver and Bob Marley side by side
Cause the smoke pouring from his "Ice Bong"
Smells sweeter than apple pie.....

Rocky Mountain High.... Taco Bueno  (X2)

As he flew up to the mountains
He saw his friends from down below
He saw as far as the "Northern Lights" would let him see
And to say that he got "Blazed" once
Getting high on "Arctic Sun"
Was too much for one man to conceive

Now he walks in quiet solitude
Tripping out on natures treats
He seeks "Grace" in every "drag" he takes
His sight is "blurred" from the "bloodshot eyes"
And his memory is frayed
Cause the "THC"
Was more than he could take

Chorus
Cause the Colorado Rocky Mountain High
John Denver and Bob Marley rollin "Thai"
Cause the smoke pouring from his "Dab Rig"
Was enough to get the whole room high.....

Rocky Mountain High.... Taco Bueno  (X2)

Now his lungs are full of "Shatter"
And his brain is feeling "Baked"
And the "munchies" have started kicking in
And he tried real hard to roll a "joint"
But his hands were not quite there
He gave up...
And took a hit of some "OG Kush"

Chorus
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain High
John Denver and Bob Marley in the sky
Now he spends all of his paychecks
And coughing is his battle cry

Rocky Mountain High

The Colorado Rocky Mountain High
John Denver and Bob Marley smoking "Thai"
And the "Shake" thrown on the campfire
Got Everybody high....

Rocky Mountain High.... Taco Bueno  (X6)

Glad I could put a grin on your face Trev.... Blooby thanks for the listen man (I put the lyrics up... all the words with "quotations" are stoner derived... some of them may or may not be familiar to folks... I've been in Colorado long enough it's second nature to me.)

My wife and I love to go hang out in the parking lot of the "Recreational" sales store down the road from us about thirty minutes or so away... You always know when the "tourists" are there... They usually pour out of a "Senior" van and start taking pictures immediately. I see every walk of life roll through that place and it's usually pretty fun in general just to go there!!!

Hook... I'm sorry for you dude... ya got to get them southern folks to lighten up a little. In this state it's viewed as a "good" thing. I also view it that way... my recreational has turned more medicinal these days I'm afraid!!!

Brilliant and awesome bro!! What a great job with the music and vocals - The harmonies toward the end are killer.

And the lyrical content is to die for!!

You rock my man!

Ha Tod! This is a great parody of J.D.'s song. This would make Weird Al jealous. I cracked up at the toke coughing after the "high" harmony note, lol, that was funny! Cool mandolin and overall great work Tod!
