New mix of a song we finished in 2014. This version is a little less wet than the original version, which IMO suits the song better.

Enjoy (hopefully)! :)

Radio-ready and radio-friendly. Pure class all round. Everything is perfectly played and placed in the arrangement.

And that sax sounds soooo good!

Very cool - I never heard the original but this sounds great. "Less wet" is the norm nowadays but I wonder when it will come back again, maybe it already has. I always preferred the drier sound, much better I think.

Peace,

Mark

Well done to all... Steffen... can u elaborate a little on the drums on this one? Mostly I'm wandering what mics where used and the effect. Nice crisp and punchy sound... I dig it!!!... big time.

Well, I can't tell you how Dean recorded his drums, but besides being a very good drummer, he also provides quality recordings that are fun to mix. Here is a link to his YouTube site:

I'll have to load the project into my DAW to see how I processed the drums (I have mixed too many songs since then to remember), but I doubt that I did much more than some parallel compression on the kick and snare and a little bit of distortion on the bus. Probably a tad of EQ here and there, and I usually use some tape emulation on drums too, to create a more saturated sound.

If you want to know it exactly, let me know, and I'll try to find time for some screen shots. :)

BTW, has anybody here ever done any screencasts (using Windows 10)? Any recommendations for good, free software?

(Just in case ...)

Regards,
  Steffen
