This is actually my favourite Who song.

Growing up in the late 70's I used to see lots of Mods with Who patches on their Parkas and I couldn't square this off with the stadium rock band that I saw the Who as.  So I was confused.  Then in the mid-eighties a friend at college lent me Meaty Beatty Big and Bouncy and it made more sense.  I much prefer that period.

So I was ambivalent of the Who fest for a long time.  I was aware that there was a Who song in my WoMB (week of my birth) chart - Can't Explain was at number 15, up from last week's 23) and I thought I would have to make a cover of that , but I wasn't really feeling it.  And there's already a great cover that in the fest.  So I chucked that and went back to my core with Boris.

This is drums off of DM-1, bass in GarageBand, and guitar off my Harley Benton Les Paul, recorded into GB amp sims.

This is the Who period I liked best myself - their first 3-4 albums (and the same period singles) were my favorites.

Lots of energy in this, and I can appreciate that you saved your vocal chords by going for an octave effect on the chorus. Loved it!

I actually preferred that later WHO period to begin with... Who Are You; Baba O'Reilly; You Better You Bet; Pinball Wizard etc... but I love this song & your version is just drop-dead superb, mate. Bravo!

Great work all round. You have put a lot into this one Nick. Great production and detail in this. Vocals are super. (I understand the early Pink Floyd reference). Great stuff Nick.
