You people have a lot to answer for.

Friday night, at the far end of a bottle of good red, I was on my phone and was browsing through the Harley Benton Les Pauls, then I had a 'f#ck-it, why not?' moment and hit the buy button.

Then yesterday this arrived;

For the money I'm amazed at how solid it is and what a quality feel everything has.  The fretboard is very comfortable and noticeably flatter than my telecaster.  I haven't plugged it in yet.  I'm not regretting my spur of the moment purchase.  Have to say thanks to Johnny Robbo's reviews of his HB's for tipping me off to these and getting my juices flowing.

I also had to get a 4-way rack for space saving purposes;

Congratulations, mate... you've got a stunner there. Gorgeous cherry sunburst! It looks like, since I got mine, they've introduced coil taps on the humbuckers which is a nice touch. You're right... they DO feel very solid & "business-like" for such a cheap guitar. Lovely "grown-up" sound, too - you're going to love it!

The only mod I've done to mine was that I had to reverse the tune-o-matic bridge, as the saddles kept creeping forwards, with the adjustment screws poking out of the front of the bridge. There's a little wire clip on each saddle that's supposed to stop this happening, but on mine this wasn't man enough to counter the pull of the strings. Now I have the adjustment screws at the back of the bridge & the string tension forces the saddles into the bridge, keeping them in place. If this happens to you, just don't forget to swap the saddles round so that it will still intonate properly.

Congrats Nick - looks sweet. I was a fender man all my life, but really enjoying my Lemon Drop - a similar experience to you. I am amazed at buying online - its so much fun getting the delivery - like xmas, not quite knowing what you are going to get. I was surprised at the quality - I'm sure you will enjoy :-)

Good on ya Nick - everybody needs a Les Paul in their sonic arsenal ( as well as a Tele, a Strat, a semi-acoustic...etc)

Nice to see you made a wine-inspired spur of the moment decision-always the best ones!

Think you'll enjoy the Les Paul - it'll bring out the rockier side of you. Look forward to hearing your next few songs.
