1st day off in ages, and got the plumbers in.

anyway this one was done a bit differently from usual. i actually wrote the lyrics first. i was out walking the dog listening to Edwyn Collins album Coming Home. not sure if it inspired the lyric but it did inspire me to write a lyric.

usually i have a tune first and then i write a lyric to fit. anyway.

once i had the lyric written, i got my jasmine electro acoustic out and worked out a riff to go with the words. once i had that, i then using magix music maker used some loops to create a rhythm track.

rhythm track then recorded to stereo track on br800.
then two mono electro acoustic tracks. then a bass line using the jasmine through the br800 bass convertor patch. then a final mono guitar track with a lot of effects. then a stereo juno di track.

bounced to a stereo track and transferred to my microbr. (house in uproar, hammers, drills saws etc) and recorded vocals on that in the car and mastered on microbr via car stereo.

anyway this is this.
I'm caught in a loop
of self fulfilling prophecies
making the same mistakes
again and again
will I ever learn

i'm caught in a loop
a vicious cycle
repeating myself
again and again
will I ever learn

deja vu deja vu deja vu
here we are again
deja vu deja vu deja vu
here we are again

i'm caught in a loop
retracing my steps
the same snakes and ladders
again and again
will I ever learn

i'm caught in a loop
the chords all the same
the patterns and rhythms
again and again
will I ever learn

deja vu deja vu deja vu
here we are again
deja vu deja vu deja vu
here we are again

You have my sympathy, James. A few years ago we had to get all the render taken off the walls of the house: days on end of pneumatic hammers pecking away at the walls. Hell!!!

The fact that you've come up with something so chilled sounding amidst all that bedlam is amazing! It's a lovely melancholy lilting song, mate.

Magically looptastic! I always pictured  quite the opposite, hunched over with piles of notebooks of lyrics waiting to be attached to a musical score. Oh well, do our heroes ever live up to the image we create in our heads
Rock on!

Pretty creative stuff here James...using loops to create a song about loops in life. The instrumentation has a robotic, unemotional vibe that ties into the lyrics really well. The vocals express the emotion that is generated by those lyrics.
Out of the box work. Cool.

Great song James. The juno creates a nice atmosphere together with the panned guitars.

I tried to comment this before, but my comment went to the out of space or somewhere? I like this song a lot! It`s very beautiful and gloomy melody and you sang it so beautifully!

I take my hat off to you sir,I could not work in that carnage.
When I have anybody working in the house I just put it all on hold.
Nice one james.
