You are right the bass doesn't sound right to me either. Sometimes I find it difficult to get the software bass sounds right. the notes either sound flat sometimes, but if i try to correct them then they sometimes sound sharp. I used to think it could be i am not tuning my guitar properly, so anything i add using software instruments would then never be right as they won't go out of tune at all. So lately i have been double checking i am tuned up properly first. Even so i think i am detecting issues. This has made me think about purchasing a cheap real bass guitar for this very reason.

If you want a cheap bass guitar, you should look at Harley Benton. Check out some of the reviews of their cheap basses, they do pretty well.
