Leigh Harrison - Brokenhearted

Sounds excellent - looks like you've cracked the 1600. To be honest, once you get going on this machine, everything else is very logical and works very much in the same way. I virtually never refer to the manual, even doing stuff that I haven't either done for ages, or have never done! Personally, I've not a fan of the sound of the drum machine on the 1600 - it always sounds like a drum machine to me (dur .. :-)  - kinda mechanical), so I use loops (betamonkey loops are the ones I use, and work well with the 1600), never tried unusual drum beats though, so unsure how well that would work - however depends very much on the type of sound that you are after.

This is a very nicely recorded track, loved the quirky styles (reminded me a bit of the Scots band 'Dogs Die In Hot Cars' stylistically, I also enjoyed the original recording which was fun. Great first upload, keep'em coming.

I really like this, Leigh - especially your vocal delivery (there's some sly snarl in there) and the syncopated guitars. Personally, I'd mix the drums a bit lower, but like Farrell I thought they seemed less up-front as the song progressed.

Fine song, Leigh.  Perhaps take the snare down a little bit in the mix - which, if I recall correctly, is not difficult to do on the BR1600.

Good one Leigh the first of many to come  I hope ... I too got the Morrissey vibe in the vocal although he was just a spit of lad in 79 me thinks or should I say Morrissey has a Leigh vibe to his vocal ;D

Great song, has quite an infectious feel to it, really like the opening riff, your new version is quite a departure form your original 4 track recording, I have to say I like both. Cool that you kept the same ending for both as well, that was a nice touch  8)

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. I've changed the drum kit and the harmonies and remixed it. I'm actually not sure whether the drums are any lower in the mix now or not, but hopefully it's better.

More coming.

Great song, played sung & recorded superbly. It's got that real late '70s new wave/rock vibe to it. Nice one :)
