Happy New Year everyone.......I got a IRig acoustic for Christmas, thanks to Hook and his thread about it........a little friggy to get it set up and all that.  I thought I would improv a little solo acoustic jam to try out the sound from this thing.

Recorded/mastered it on my microBR, just one pass of guitar noodling, pretty random stuff.  What about the sound?  It is certainly easier than other methods to record acoustic, and it does sound better than my piezo on my other guitar.  I haven't decided yet what I think yet, some more experimentation is needed.

Oh yeah, I ran it through my IPad into Amplitude acoustic, but turned off amp models, effects, etc, just the miked sound of the guitar came through back to my microBR.

The guitar I used is my "newish" Seagull Entourage Grand Parlor (small bodied guitar).  I have had this guitar for a few months now and this is the first time I tried recording with it.  Its a fun guitar to play.

BB, your guitar sounds fab through the iRig (and the fact that it's well played doesn't hurt, either).

I think the nature of the iRig is it's going to sound close-miked (because it is, after all), but I also wonder how it would sound mixed with another microphone placed farther away? Definitely sounds like a nice tool to have in your sonic toolkit!

Some fine playing BB! The recorded acoustic with the IRig sounds very natural to my ears. I like that you didn't over process this so we could hear the real sound you captured. Well done on the playing and recording!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Bluesberry

Thanks everyone, I am really liking this iRig... Seems to be a much easier way to record acoustic........and it sounds not too bad.  I find the trick is to dial down on the input volume, that is the mic volume. If it is too high it overloads the microphone and distorts the sound more.  It took me some playing around to get the sound good........but once dialed in it does as advertised.........recreates a close mic'ed condenser mic.........sorta of.
