Hi all

I have been working on some alternative stuff with my friend Kai, who provides the strings for this clip.

This is a rendition of an old Sufi-style (The moderate Mystic Muslims, that dont like violence) Arabic folk song, used in meditations.

There are no drums in this track apart from my six string.

Sorry its not the whole track, just the last two minutes.....It goes on for 8 minutes and is too big to post.

If you do like it, I can send you the MP3.

Thanks for all the tips with the other posts.

Great post!! love the mood of it!! A tad to heavy on the bass in the mix for my taste but otherwise good production.

Nice post - Like the pulse you have going with the guitar. The strings sound good, too.

Thanks Guys

Recorded the Guitar in one take by hanging the Sony Condenser Mic inside it.
I was going to us a drum, but the pulse of the guitar seemed to do the job.....
It also picks up every tap on the guitars body and Tinkle on the strings.

Only bad side to this was that it took up two tracks by recording it in stereo, and the bass comes out really high and muffled on speakers that can't handle it.

We recorded the track using some studio monitors and didn't think about how it would sound on other formats. Something to remember for next time I guess.....

I haven't got a clue how to lower the bass when something's recorded with the condenser. Anyone know how to do this, or record in mono when using it?

Recording in mono is just to select only one track, don't think you can mix the two while recording. Alternatively, just bounce the two tracks to one after recording.
Bass reduction can be done by tweaking the effect setting eiter when recording ore during mastering.

Still love this piece of music!!!!

Thanks for all the positive input with this one!

The critique, tips and comments do wonders for building up confidence, and getting a production better nailed down the next time.   It's like having a (online with 24hr support) production team from around the world. :)

I'll get cracking with something else. ;D
