Boss BR Recorders and Windows 10?

Hi,

the question is in the subject.

Did anybody here already test if any BR-recorder (600-800 etc.) work with W10?

Going to the Boss/Roland official compatibility page:

http://www.roland.com/support/support_news/250024

there's no mention at all of ANY recroder...  >:(

I don't know.

the BR80 is seen as an external storage device as it did with W7 and XP, so I'm hoping so.

I have put W10 onto my music laptop, but I haven't plugged any outboard tech into it. Yet to try.

Reaper seems to run just fine, although I haven't battered it.

I've sent an email to Roland asking about Windows 10 compatibility. I'll post here if and when I get a reply.

Meanwhile, I have to say that I would never use Windows 10 because it is a privacy nightmare. Microsoft is collecting and sharing huge amounts of data about all Windows 10 users. There are some articles on the web that tell you how to switch some stuff off, but some sites say that even with everything turned off Win 10 still sends data to Microsoft regularly to track your online activity.

Have a look at some of the sites that come up when you Google "windows 10 privacy concerns".

Another good reason not to use Windows 10:

What's next from the Redmond Mafia? Will Windows 11 automatically delete any software that didn't come from Microsoft? I wouldn't put it past them. Microsoft's gangster business tactics should be illegal.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ! - IMPORTANT UPDATE ! - IMPORTANT UPDATE !

Well, now I want to share with you what happened this evening.

I do not know exactly what I touched,  ::) but this evening, coming back from work, I found my PC that for some mysterious reasons had decided to go from W7 to W10  ??? and it was at the end of the upgrade  :-\

I was scared at the idea to stop everything in the middle of the process, so the only thing I could imagine to do was finger crossing.

After some problems (screen was black, mouse not working) and many more updates, now (almost) everything seems go.

But...and the music?

I have an Edirol UA-25EX audio card connected to the PC via USB...after passing to W10, it was recognised, but with "missing driver". Going to the Boss official page, my audio card is still "under testing" for compatibility with W10, but reading that all the other cards downloaded their drivers "WHEN CONNECTED TO INTERNET", I had the idea to DISCONNECT the USB cable from the PC AND THEN PLUG-IN IT AGAIN, and now the UA-25EX goes perfectly. This means that my mistake was making the upgrade W7-W10 with the audio card ALREADY CONNECTED!!! And this way is instead the right one for printers and scanners.

Now, since I was soooooo glad I could again count on my glorious audio card, I decided to test my old BR-600. Well, I'm glad to tell you that:

- when connected properly to the PC via USB, it's immediately seen as "Mass Storage Unit"

- the BOSS Wav Converter sees perfectly at it

- every import/export task via the Wav Converter is OK, exactly as before.

In the next days I will try the same with the BR-800

Ciao!!!!!

 :)

Yep, that sounds like the sort of dishonest, bully tactics I'd expect from Microsoft. They failed miserably in their attempts to get people to move from Windows XP to the crap that followed. So now they're going to force everyone to take Windows 10 whether they want it or not.
