I just got my MBR about a week or so ago and I'm having a BLAST!  I feel so creative now, it's great.  This site has helped me get up and running in a hurry....much thanks to you all!!

My question is: why does all the mp3 that my MBR creates, all have the same date and time?  When I move them over to my computer, each of my songs have the date and time of: 10/20/2006 12:00 AM.

Is there a way to get the correct date and time when the file was created within MBR?
Thanks again,
Tom..

That's normal. The BR doesn't have a clock/calendar so it has no way of knowing the correct date and time.

Thanks for you reply 64Guitars.

Is there a way to change the date on the mp3 or wav file for the song I created?  Renaming it doesn't work.

For historic tracking purposes that would be nice as well as for - if and when I ever - copyright a song.

Thanks again - this site rocks!  and you rock 64Guitars!

You can change the timestamp on any file using the TOUCH utility program.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=touch+utility+for+windows&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=0&oq=touch+utility

However, a file's timestamp is not a reliable proof for copyright purposes since anyone can easily change a file's timestamp with this utility.

An easier way to date your songs is with my BR Explorer program. You can simply type the date into the Notes section of each song. You can do this while the BR is connected to your computer via USB, or with BR backups stored on your hard drive.

Update: I just re-read your original message and noticed that you want to timestamp MP3s rather than the BR's song files. BR Explorer won't help much with MP3s. Although, you might find it to be a useful program in many other ways. But for your MP3s you could change the date with the TOUCH utility. You could also use a Tag Editor to put the date in the Comments field.

By the way, I recommend that everyone edits their MP3 tags before posting an MP3 in this forum or anywhere else. You should at least add your name and the song title, and it wouldn't hurt to add your copyright info too.
