Probably meaningless to many, but this guy was part of many of our collective youth.

RIP to Eugene Patton, otherwise known as The Gong Show's Gene Gene The Dancing Machine.

One of my favorite childhood memories is watching The Gong Show with my brother and leaping off the couch when the Gene Gene music started and doing his dance moves and going nuts all over the living room.

Oh man that bums me out......Gene Gene The Dancing Machine was the best part of The Gong show. I can see him  shuffling across the stage as smooth as glass.

I always thought he was called Mean Gene The Dancing Machine or at least that's what I heard as kid but now I know it's Gene Gene The Dancing Machine. I have a song called Mean Gene The Dancing Machine that I'll need to re-title correctly. Not that my song sounds like Gene Gene's theme song but it reminded me of something he would dance to. In his honor here's a link to the song. RIP Gene Gene........

RIP, Eugene.

I used to love watching The Gong Show when I was a kid, and especially for Gene Gene, the Dancing Machine. Every time he came on, it was guaranteed laughs for us - kids & adults alike. I especially enjoyed it when they'd have Gene enter dancing (with music first) in the middle of a particularly bad act - it made the embarrassingly funny even more hilarious!

Oh, and we danced along as well!
