One of my favourite songs by Elvis Costello - always preferred his early stuff.  This was broadcast on 13/03/1978 as part of the set of the second of his four Peel sessions.

I had a few of the early EC singles back in the day, this being one of them.  And you've done a great job with it, too.  There's a lot of fiddly stuff going on in there; you pulled it all together very well.  That bass line must have taken some doing, for one.   The sounds are spot on and nicely balanced in the mix.  Well performed vocal too.

All in all, thumbs up.  Can't fault it.

Brilliant, brilliant cover. Love the slightly rawer edge on the guitars you have here, and it feels a bit more punky/frantic overall (a good thing). Super job on the vocals too. Fantastic work.

p.s. I'm in Chelsea right now, and I didn't want to come here! A very appropriate song for my Monday morning...

How did I miss Elvis Costello in the E list??? Great job here Pete, this sounds stellar man. You've got the organ in there & that killer guitar tone; top it off with that fine vocal...top shelf all the way. I dig most of EC's stuff so I can't say I have a favorite tune or era but I love this tune & I really love your cover!!
