more stream of thought nonsense from my rotten old head.

earlier today i worked out the riff to this on my £10 acoustic, but had no time to record. when i got some quiet this evening, i got out my electro acoustic and strummed the riff along to the drum track of one of my earlier songs, and thought "i'm using that".

I then got out my bass guitar and repeated a bass riff over the top of it ad nauseum.

Then i yelled into the onboard mic on my microbr.

My intention before yelling was to get the juno out, but in the end i left it under the bed.

i'm sure it all means something, what i don't know.

However i have a pub quiz to make up for Wednesday.

you can take it or leave it
you can go your own way
chasing rainbows
and pots of gold
nothing really matters
it's neither chance nor luck
it's all set out before you
aw fuck

put yer cards on the table
before i call your bluff
and don't pretend you don't know me
i think you've seen enough
i'm neither devil nor angel
and neither inbetween
cos it's all just a dream

oh there's so many colours
and a multitude of shades
so many individuals
everyone the same
all fighting for survival
to see out all their days
will you leave an impression
or just fade away

put yer cards on the table
before i call your bluff
and don't pretend you don't know me
i think you've seen enough
i'm neither devil nor angel
and neither inbetween
cos it's all just a dream
cos it's all just a dream

Loved the lyrics and melody. I couldn't get into the jangly guitar, sorry. The rest was real fine. I would have loved some harmonies here and there.

I was thinking a jangly pop song for a Saturday morning TV show.

Those damn kids need an expletive now and again.

I dig the hypnotic bass line. Enjoyable.

Very nice. Jangly and tuneful, and that repeated, meandering bass run works really well. That chord change just before the last line was gorgeous.

Dream of a tune, James.

Love the jangle - you used a chorus on the guitar? I always have these positive 80s flashbacks when I hear chorused guitars. I dig that bass line, too and the overall full production on the song - glistening.

A strong melody & the lyric SOUNDS like it means something! One of those songs that each listener can interpret in their own way. It works for me :)

It's a little rough round the edges in places Jim but the vocal holds it together really well. Lovely strong vocal melody and some nice chords. I like the little bass riff as well. Lyrics are great as always, your trick is you have enough structure for the listener to put their own meaning and images to the words (like Johnny said, they sound like they mean something). I particularly liked the "i'm neither devil nor angel, and neither inbetween" line which really catches the attention and flows nicely into the "all just a dream".

Nice one.
