Is if my impression,or there was a big wasp flying around in your studio. It appears often in the left channel!
Or was it the tanpura?!?

Anyway, the song, with wasp or tanpura is great.
It is interesting how you manage the listener's interest with the vocal harmonies, and your singing. I imagine it is a repetitive sequence of chords, and the simple solution is to add more and more instruments as the chords repeat.

Interesting!

Thanks folks for all your gracious comments...they are very much appreciated. :)

When I listened to this again the next day, I felt like one of my vocal takes was a bit of a burn because of a combination of raw throat and poor mic technique. So I cut a new vocal track today and did a slight remix (this should teach me not to mix and post so late at night).

Thanks again for the listen and comments.

Excellent! I love the layered vocals and the tasteful blend of acoustic stringed instruments. I'd never heard of a box tanpura before but it's got an interesting sound and works well in this song. Nice clean recording too. Everything's well placed in the mix and it sounds great!

I don't think I've heard the song before but I might have because, according to Wikipedia, it was covered by Joan Baez on her 1960 debut album and by Judy Collins on her 1961 album "A Maid of Constant Sorrow". I've probably heard both of those albums at least once but I don't remember the song. I'll have to have another listen to those two albums. It's a great song and I can imagine Joan Baez singing it.

This is fabulous. Love the psyched-up cushion of vocals over the more traditional plucked folkiness. Really dreamy and right up my street. Brilliant job!

Love the wonderful sound palette of stringed instruments and the layers of vocals.  Really works well with the traditional folk mode of this song.  A hauntingly beautiful rendering.

Wow - I missed this earlier - it's sublime. A completely different sounding ensemble and delightful for it.

I love it.
