I've always loved this slow Scottish melody, composed by James Scott Skinner. I think it has something magic...

The first version I listened to, long time ago, was by the bass player Danny Thompson in his album "Whatever's Next" (1989). His version has been the starting point for my arrangement of Dargai, since I loved the (risky!) switching of the tune from its traditional form to a jazz waltz and then back again to the tradition. I hope James and the other Scottish people here will not be offended by such a mix... :)

But of course I was also inspired by Richard Thompson's guitar version of the tune. The guitar tuning used by R. Thompson for this tune is open G (DGDGBD), but I prefer using DGDGBE, since this way the fingerings for the four high strings remain the same of the standard tuning (...I know, I'm lazy...  ;D)

Enjoy  :)

Thanks, Bazz!

After I've read your message, I checked out my electric guitar track in Melodyne, and, yes, you were right, it was 40% sharp!

Now it should be perfectly in tune...
