The suggestfest has been really cool. This was a song I didn't know before Tim suggested it. I finished this weeks ago, but had to wait for the drums from my brother, delayed by both vacation and some BR800 problems he had (he's replaced the mics twice now !!). Anyway, I really loved the original and was very happy with the suggestion. I contemplated several approches to the song, including trying to replicate the original arrangment, but ended up doing it in a more typical "Geirish" style :D Quite a few tracks used here too, guitar, bass, mando, thumbjam cello, violin and organ (played from my old D10 keyboard). Vocals recorded with my Behringer B2 pro (hadn't gotten the Røde yet).

Big thank you to Tim for the suggestion, and to my brother for supplying an excellent drumtrack !!

Don't know the original, but this is a corker! It's got lots of the Geir style, well-performed and produced.

Cool song. I wasn't familiar with it either but I like it. Your arrangement and performance is fabulous. And I agree with you that the drum track is excellent!

The internal mics? What was wrong with them? Noisy? I've heard of mic problems with the old BR-600 from several people (Vanncad, for example) but not so much with any of the other BRs. If Jarle has had to replace the mics twice, it makes me wonder if this is something that other BR-800 users could experience too. I haven't yet heard of anyone else though.

When I bought the BR800 I had it for about a week before the internal mics started to make a loud humming sound. I went back to the shop where I bought it and got a new one. This was working fine for a couple of months before the humming started again. This time they sent it in to be repaired. They changed the mics and they worked fine for another couple of months. Then it started again. The humming sound was reduced slightly when I touched some metal on the BR (the left or right output at the back). So I guess it was some bad earthing. Now the mics has been replaced for the second time and I hope the problem is solved.

I don't know this Elvis Costello tune, but this works well on "Geirish style". This could be an original by you :) . Love it!

As there's a real drummer, in this case I mean REAL DRUMMER :) , a tune moves to another level. Excellent drumming, Jarle!
