Got some Martins for my acoustic. nice.

the elixir i find start to shred after a while. So I don't use them. Just buy lots or EB's when the offers are on and change them often.

I have heard that boiling them up revives them. I'll be trying this when my new 5 string bass starts sounding a little dull, £25 for a set of 36" scale 5 string bass strings!
Ouch!

I like martins-eb are always "fresh" i use them from time to time

i worked with a bass player years back that use to boil his strings-
the dude played a rick, an 8 string kramer and a fretless kramer stick bass-guy was awesome

thats a lot of bass strings-they aint cheap

Quote from: lg on February 26, 2009, 10:25:30 PMI have found that Ernie Ball regular Slinkys are just perfect
for me.
And they hold up nicely to the abuse that I give them!

If you like those, give these a whirl sometime. I switched to these Ernie Ball Pure Nickel Classics about a year ago and haven't looked back yet.

You're right, the EBs def hold up well after abuse.

Sounds Interesting....What is the difference between Rock and Roll and Slinkys?

http://www.ernieball.com/products

Rock and Roll = pure nickel
Pure nickel wire wrapped around tin plated hex shaped steel core wire. These guitar strings produce a warm rich tone.

Slinky = nickel plated
Nickel plated steel wire wrapped around a hex shaped steel core wire.  The plain strings are made of specially tempered tin plated high carbon steel; producing a well balanced tone for your guitar.

Thanks! Definitely going to try the .008 sometime. I use to always go for the 9-42s, but I switched to 10-46s a couple years back. The .008 are on the shopping list for next time. Quite curious.
