Late to the party, but I think you've struck on a good plan of attack. You can always try your hand at recording directly the DAW instead of using a BR. Personally, I record to the 900CD and then convert and import WAV to Reaper to mix.  Kind of the best of both worlds, really. I did use the 900CD as an audio input device to record to Reaper but latency was awful... I've since studied up on how to reduce the latency issue so I may try that again. It'd be cool to be able to record either way.
