Loving what you have both brought to it. I never thought of it ias a dark tune. I thought I was being light and breezy. It just goes to show. I've done a few tweeks to the instrumental. Added a few harp sounding triplets and a Guchin, fiddled about with the verbs and EQ'd it a bit and widened the stereo field.

Thanks for listening and the kind comments AverGo. - Chunk

Wow chunk I listen to this and I get all kinds of ideas and stuff I hear in my head. Some I just don't know how to do lol. OHR is right, what a great palette for people to work from.

Makes me think it should be in a sound track or something. Really interesting sound. Makes me want to experiment more with that kind of sound. :)

Chunk what I cool tune to practice modes with! After close to 30 years of playing and being stuck in the proverbial pentatonic box, I'm understanding modes a little better:)

Thanks LESTG for the comments. I'm ashamed to say I don't even know what a mode is even though I've been playing for 30 odd years. Laziness on my part.

The bass in the intro reminds me of Linda Ronstadt's cover of "Blue Bayou" by Roy Orbison.

The riff's not identical but it's similar and even in the same key.

Just an observation, not a criticism. I'm sure it was unintentional. Cool tune.

Re- Linda Ronstadt's Blue Thing. Totally unintentional, I can't remember ever hearing this version. But I do remember the Big O's from distant memory, so it could have come from there. I'm sure this bassline has been used in hundreds of songs in one variation or another. Haylie says it reminds her of the Cure, ORH says the Smiths. Who knows what gets stuck in the mind. No doubt I'll do something that's nicked from Little Jimmy Osmond some day.

When I 1st heard it I thought it was a sample of the bass line from under the boardwalk by the  drifters, I think this bass run was used in a lot of 60 s things.
Interesting so many versions are springing fom this ;D
