Hey guys, I've had to box up my home studio & will have to do all my recording on my mbr for the foreseeable future & I want a good mic. I want something like this  , has anyone used this one and are there any other choices that sound good?
Thanks,
Rock On!

Not familiar with the iRig Mic Cast. I'm puzzled by its 4-conductor phone plug. Never seen one before.

Boss made the BA-CS10 specifically for the Micro BR. Unfortunately, it no longer seems to be available. But if you look around, you might find a store with old stock.

Several people here have used the Sony ECM-DS70P and seem to be pleased with it. Like the BA-CS10, it uses the Micro BR's PlugIn Power and attaches directly to the BR via the EXT MIC jack.

It's available on eBay for MUCH less than Sony's $74.99. For example, it's only $3.46 on this page:

That's not an unusual price for the Sony. I think most people here who bought one got it for under $5. Not sure if they're genuine Sonys or knock-offs but who cares, if it works well? And it does, according to the folks here who've used one.

An advantage of the Boss BA-CS10 is that it includes a plastic attachment that rests against the BR to prevent the mic from moving too much and possibly breaking the EXT MIC jack. Unfortunately, the BA-CS10 costs a lot more than the Sony mic. Maybe if you got the Sony, you could find a piece of plastic that would slip over the plug to provide more support. Perhaps a plastic bottle cap with a hole drilled in it.

I have one of the BA-CS10 mics and think it is a very decent mic.  I have recorded lots of stuff with mine into my microBR.  It captures acoustic guitar very good I think.  Lovely little mics if you can find one.

Hello,I got one of the Sony copies from EBay UK it works really well,I'm very impressed with the sound,it is louder and more focussed than the internal mic ,which to be fair is very good,Worth a punt if you can get one.

64Guitars, the four conductor plugs are for when the device it will be used with has stereo out and microphone in capability on a single jack. The setup is: tip, ring, ring, barrel. Tip is mic in, the two rings are stereo out and the barrel is ground.

I've only seen this type of plug on iPods and iPads although I'm sure there are many other devices that can
utilize this type of cable and plug.

Thanks, SD. I didn't know that. On doing a bit of searching though, I find that the wiring is a bit different than you described. It seems that the barrel is the mic; not ground. That way, the tip and two rings match up with a standard stereo headphone plug.

Just got this mic today, only took a week from China. It sounds great, but is comically small,I will record something with it tomorrow. I didn't notice it until I got it but the R is on the left & the L is on the right?

Usually, stereo mics are inverted, so when you listen to the recording it sounds as if you were in front of the recorded object. It's like if you label you left ear L and your right ear R, and somebody looks at you. That person sees the L on the right and the R on the left :)
