Man that was great to hear. Nice job on all the parts. Can't wait till warmer weather. We could definately hang out in my studio garage with some cold ones! Me and LG like to jazz it up once in awhile.
Why don't we do it on the road?

thanks to everyone for the positive comments on my "Jazz" song.

i know that jazz is in the minority around here, which is why i titled the song "Jazz Alert". this was an exercise to see if i could pull this off and a totally improvisational effort to keep in step with my "Wander Aimlessly" philosophy.

basically, i use the BR-900CD Rhythm Editor from Boss (free from Boss, by the way) to establish my tempo and reference for the placement of drum hits. shoot it into the MBR via line in from my PC's headphones out. once i had the tempo laid down on the MBR, exported it as a wave file to Audacity where the fun begins. eventually, i had enough to do my bass track which, in this song, is a simple walking bass line on track 2 (1 take). then, it was a matter of laying down the guitar on track 3 (1 take) and keyboards on track 4. the keyboards took three takes as it is only the second time i've used them. i know even less about keyboards then i do about the bass. the end result is 4 instruments performed on 4 tracks to stick to my four live performers concept. the reason i went through all of the effort to build my own drums and not use a backing track or the MBR's drums is because i am attempting to maintain a purity with this project. besides, i don't ever do anything the easy way. flash told me i cut a deep furrow when i started my bass learning curve by ripping the frets out of my bass before learning how to play the damn thing first. LOL

again, thanks for all of the positive comments. hopefully, i'll be pestering you all with more "Jazz" soon.

hey guitarron - i don't have a BR-900. since my budget is on a shoestring, i just use the editor (free). cheif financial officer (wife) likes it that way.  :D  :D

i would love to hear some more jazz - that would be 2cool  8)

Jazz may be a minority,  But I could get into it.  Very laid back.  It's fun to be able to do a whole song by yourself.  Modern technology is awesome.  Bring on some more.

hmm....

with your voice, it would be cool to do some Sade or Etta James cover songs.

hey wiley - would you be interested in doing a collab with the guys  :D in the near future? i have a request to do van morrison's "Into the Mystic" and think it would be a cool twist to do it from a female perspective. i know Jen Chapin has a version of it that is very soulful. let me know what you think.

Jazz really isn't my thing but you've done a great job here. Nice full sound and I like your idea of keeping it like a real quartet. And good on you for doing everything, including the meticulous approach to the drums.

Cheers,
