"Weather Report" has got to be one of my favorite jazz groups of all time and heavy influence on me.

Nice and mellow. You have the right touch on this, for sure. I was just reading about Jaco and his time with Weather Report and the whole Miami 'jazz renaissance' around that time. Sounded like a fun place to be  :)

mr2kewl

thanks for the positive comment, tim.

Jaco has been such an influence on me that i pulled the frets out of my bass. Jaco's opinion on frets was that they were nothing more than speed bumps that got in his way.

i must explain the Mr2Cool Quartet now that you guys have commented on them. well... when i say them, i mean me. all parts were performed by me. my whole intent, even before the MBR enter my life was to produce music that four musicians could produce live. no "Wall of Sound" here. hence the Mr2Cool Quartet.

now, that i've revealed the fact that i played all the parts, i need to explain the drums. if you listen closely to the drums, you can hear that there is no looping, no backing track. they were all done by me.

however, i never touched a set of drums. what i have done is taken a very extensive library of single drum hit wave files that i have and threaded them together in Audacity. listen to the double hit on the ride cymbal and you will hear it cut off abruptly. but, this is my first attempt at the percussions and the quality will improve on the next song.

so, this is the end result of my concept group. music that four musicians could play live. again, thanks for the positive comments. i'm working on the next song. no doubt it will be heavily influenced by "Weather Report".  ;)

Very ambitious project, I like it a lot.  Lets hear some more from the 4 of you (do you guys ever get into an argument?  ;))

Very well assembled. And well played.

Isn't it difficult to put each instrument in? How many takes did you make to get it to this standard?

Keep going, you're heading in the right direction, and pretty quickly too by the sounds of things.

Cheers

Mike

Sounds like you had to do a lot of audacity 'threading' with the drums. Impressive indeed! Did you use the BR's metronome as a guide / click-track?

Well, Mr2Cool,

Now I see where you got your name... that jazz is just 2COOL Mr!
You did a nice job of assembling the drums pieces, it came out well I'd say. And you defiantly have the jazz touch on guitar & bass!
Bravo!

Anticipating more....
