Hi Chaps thanks for letting me join you forum , i have downloaded Audacity and the BR Wave converter software and all looks ok with both . i used mp3s at first with Audacity but found that it transfers across as 2 tracks instead of the 4 tracks i wanted (learning curve). i eventually got the 4 tracks across to Audacity but without the drum track !! i can now mix and stuff but i cant seem to be able to transfer the 4 tracks back over to the micro to rejoin the drum track ?

1. how can i bring over the drum track as well as the other instuments to Audacity.
2. how can i transfer the finished mix back over if i cant transfer the drum track

It appears you are only using the MBR for recording only. No mixing or mastering?
The drum track only gets added during a bounce or master. That saves a track on a 4 track machine.
You could bounce to a single track if that was the only one playing. If you wanted it by itself, you would have to record silence on that track.
As you found, you can only export a 2 track stereo MP3 to or from the MBR, but you can export the individual wave tracks with BR Explorer I think.
I'm no expert, but I do all the mixing, drums and mastering on the require more button pushing.

Yep, i´ve done it to. ALl you have to do is record all instruments and voice into separate tracks, and then, choose some free track (can be a virtual track) and use the bounce technique, but listening only to the rythm. This way you will get a track with the rythm. Then, use the Wave converter to bring all tracks into your computer and mix them on audacity. I´ve tried this but in my opinion it´s better to do it on MBR because it´s effects are more effective and better then the ones on Audacity, even with a good soundcard. And more, if you only record instruments and transfer them imediatly to PC, those tracks wont have all the effects you are actually listening on your MBR, like reverb for ex.. wich means you would have to bounce every single track into a new one, adding those effects, and then transfer them to PC. So I prefer do it all in MBR. Once you start to get the grips of it, you´ll never choose other options (i think  ;))

Right got yer !! I new there must be some way of doing it , i may stick with Audacity and see what it has to offer , some of the tracks i recorded were a bit untidy at the end so i wanted to fade out at the end so i used that function on the Software package , no fade out on the MBR as far as i can see, i have used the mastering package on the MBR but wanted to see what Audacity had to offer , thank you both kindly for your time and knowledge.

You can fade out on MBR, depending on what you´re trying to achieve. here´s how... Record a track, then bounce it to a V-track and when you want it to fade out, simply low the volume level, while bouncing, on that track. Hope I explained my self right.
