My favourite track from one of my favourite albums! What a beautiful job you guys made of it. Considering it's just guitar and percussion, it sounds remarkably lush music-wise. And the vocal is intimate and true. Brilliant.

Don't know the original myself, but I love the slightly calypso feel on this one. Well played, Alfredo, and Jim, you are a man of many voices.

It was the beginning of the Seventies and (thanks to robtob) I discovered the musical genius of John Martyn. Now, 40 years later, it was a great pleasure (and a great surprise too...) to receive the request by James to cover this real gem, by one of the most underrated songwriters...

...and what a great guitarist too he was! If you listen to the original, he can give that subtle latin rhythm only with an acoustic guitar, just with the right hand palm muting on the strings. Nothing more, just voice and acoustic guitar. My first attempt was doing the same thing, I thought it would have been simple, and...no way, the chords are very simple, yes, but I couldn't play with that particular rhythm. In few words, a dull result. So, in order to obtain that latin mood, I had to use some conga sounds, switching  from the acoustic to a richer and fuller jazz electric guitar (Washburn J6).

James voice is, as usual, really TRUE. Thanks to you, Giacomino!

Bravo guys, love the tone of the vocal and the jazzy chords on the end.

Only know the Clapton version (actually thought it was his ::) ) and was thinking of covering it a while ago, but never came around to it. Well no need to now with this excellent version!

This is outstanding !

Very nice.
I like this is a different way to the original ... and that was touched by genius.
This version is mighty fine too.

I remember seeing JM do this on OGWT & loved it then.
Hearing this version brought back fond memories.

For those who haven't seen that performance ... treat yourself to this:

And then listen to ORH & Alfs version again :)
