Hi everyone!
So I borrowed and used a non-Boss PSA and fried my MicroBR.  It still works on battery, but no longer with my Boss PSA.  I took the MicroBR apart and took a photo of the area that got fried.  Can anyone tell me what component goes in the area I have circled?  It use to be a black eeprom looking piece that looks like it exploded in half.

Thanks for any help.

I can see the fried chips, now all we need is salt and vinegar.

It's cooked. You will struggle to repair this board.

Usually the repair costs are more than the new cost unless you can DIY.
Good luck and sorry for your problem but glad it works with batteries.
This is a really graphic example. I did wonder if they were just promoting their own transformer. Apparently not.

They do say it's very important to use the right adapter and that damage may occur, but I wish you luck.

Sadly, I fried mine this AM too.  It was plugged into the Boss AC adapter. Update: It was plugged into the wrong AC adapter. When I turned it on it went POP, and now won't work even on battery power--so consider yourself lucky.

Mine is not under warranty.  I called a Roland service center today, and was told that this would likely cost me $200 to repair, so I'd be better off buying another one--which is probably what I will do.  I've invested so much time learning this unit that replacing it with another one would be an even bigger setback.

Here's a tip we might want to pass on to BR users:  Power it on with battery power before plugging in the AC adapter. Uh... Nevermind.

I got mine nearly new for 100 bucks a few weeks back-there should still be deals out there.
