New problems with Adobe Flash Player

Here is a link you can read about Adobe Flash Player and its latest problems with Windows 8.

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4918343

It seems that Microsoft imbedded Flash Player into Windows 8, a sweetheart deal with Adobe, and it turns out
that version will not work and there is no way to uninstall it. And there is no way to install a different version
as that requires removing the imbedded version first. Catch 22 all over again.
Another Microsoft blunder. Something they seem to be rather good at.

From what I've read so far, a lot of people are uninstalling Windows 8 and going back to Windows 7 just
because of this disaster. Bye-bye, videos, otherwise.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

From what I've read, Windows 8 is destined to be the worst version of Windows ever. Even worse than Vista, believe it or not. Anyone who is currently using Windows 7 or XP should keep it. Of course, if your computer dies and you have to buy a new one, you'll have a problem because the Redmond Mafia has ensured that you can't buy a new computer without also buying Windows 8. In fact, their latest gangster tactics prevent you from installing an alternative operating system on a "Windows 8 certified" computer due to a BIOS replacement called UEFI which they force manufacturers to install in the computer. Microsoft owns your computer, folks.

If you must buy a new computer, buy a Mac. Or buy a PC without an operating system (not easy to do, thanks to the Redmond Mafia) and install Linux on it. I've never been happier with my computer since I switched to Linux. My computer is mine, not Microsoft's. I never have to deal with activations, viruses, unwanted software constantly nagging me to upgrade, or any of the other crap that comes with being under Microsoft's thumb. And there's a huge assortment of first-rate free software available for Linux. Office suites, graphics programs, video programs, audio and music software, etc. And because it's all free, I can try programs out any time I feel like it without risk. If I don't like the program, I can simply try another one that serves the same purpose. In the Windows world, the only way to try programs is through crippled demos or cracked versions. The latter is dangerous and leaves you feeling like a criminal. Plus, you can't get support or updates for your cracked software. Whenever a new version is released, you have to look for another cracked version. In the Linux world, there are no demos or cracked versions. If you want to try a new program, you can simply install the full, supported version without cost or risk. And you can easily upgrade when each new version comes out. Linux gives you freedom. It's hard to fully appreciate how important that freedom is until you experience it for yourself. Once you do, you'll never want to use proprietary operating systems or applications again. I sure don't.

Yeah - done the same, expensive - it works great, without having to farting around too much. Thinking of building a Linux machine, was a big UNIX fan in my early days - and there seems to be some great software available.

Having played with Beta version of Windows 8 - thought it looked like a train crash, tying in the hardware is a bad mistake by MS, wont be long before you can buy machines with Linux pre-installed! Still, I do like Microsoft, Visual Studio/.NET/C sharp is pretty decent (not as good a Delphi, but then again nothing is), but their OS's are bloatware.

If you're a PC user, stick with Windows 7. It works fine and is not a mortal pain in the ass to work with.

A slightly differing view, win 8 seems to have been done right.

I have Windows 8 pro on a laptop and on a imaging workstation.
I've had it since July 2012 about 3 months before it became generally available.

It has been brilliant, everything just works, absolutely no issues, and the antivirus/anti malware is built in, works great.

For browsers I have IE 10,(never use it), Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera used for code compatibility testing, all the browsers I actually use work with no issues.

When I test what flash version I have it reports:
FireFox: "You have version 11,5,502,146 installed" which is the latest available by plugin.
Safari: "You have version 11,5,502,146 installed which is the latest available by plugin.
Chrome: "You have version 11,5,31,137 installed" which is the latest available for pepper.
IE10 "You have version 11,3,378,5 installed" looks old but who in their right mind actually uses IE.
The IE browser is bad, the OS itself is good, two different things.

In fact everything hardware/software I've tried to install and use  just seems to work.

I agree the metro/modern interface looks stupid but you never need to see it, as soon as you launch an old style app the good old desktop you are used to pops up and you can swap between the two at will.

All my other machines run Linux mostly RHEL with a touch of Ubuntu.

I would not touch an Apple product phone/pad/ or confuser if they paid me to use it.
IMHO badly overpriced junk.
BTW the Apple OS is a unix based derivative with a very restrictive user interface (GUI pasted on top).
Better to go for the real unrestricted thing and run Linux.

Better hop off the soapbox said more than I planned  8)

Oups just a bit more,

There are a whole pile of mac virus scanners available now if you look for them, and we run Symantec AV on our commercial Linux machines.
Windows used to be the main target for all the scriptkiddies because it was the most popular OS out there. However as the other OS gained in popularity the attention of the virus/trojen writers has changed.
There have been more than a few nasty MacOS/Linux/Android  virus scares over the last year, no OS is immune. It is just how attractive it is for the virus coders to spend their time on.

MicroSoft just updated the flash in IE10 today to version 11.3.379.14
According to Adobe that is their latest version available for IE10.
Not sure what that might mean to anyone as I don't use IE.

In my opinion, using Internet Explorer as your browser is like buying a racehorse and training it to limp.

I have win 8 pro w\ IE 10 and have had zero problems. I agree with a lot peterp has said. except I visit sites and such where java and flash is important and still have had no problems. and I installed win 8 pro over win 7 which the desk top came with. I never found ie to be slow, and though googles chrome and other browsers are good, I find I don't like a lot of things they have, like tabs.
I've heard a few people complain about win 8 but I have none.
