So I wanted to do something for the Discofest.  Been mulling this over for a while but couldn't figure out how to treat it. Then about 03:30 in bed awake I started playing with the Blue Monday flavours.  I took the decision early on not to actually say the word Funkytown, I can't stand it.  Why would anyone want to go to a smelly town?

I was expecting something good from you for Discofest and here it is. Cracking version - love the synth sounds. The song was on my shortlist for Discofest as it was out about the time I first met my wife (first song we had a dance to!) but I decided to attempt something else which I'll post if I manage to complete it as its well out of my comfort zone.  Really enjoyed this with the vocoder and the electro feel. Great piece of work.  Pete

(Back now to watching Wigan getting pasted by Liverpool >:( )

I used my Boss DR5 to programme the drums, percussion, bass and the triggered synth part.  I find if I use two kick drums together you get a really nice kick ( Dark Kick and Tight Kick).

Was going to use the bass track to trigger a bass sound on the microkorg xl, ended up using the DR5 bass, beefed up with a sine track an octave below.  The synth track was used to trigger a voice on the Korg over MIDI; I also doubled it by running it through a delay.

There's three guitar parts.  I was lazy and used on board effects on my Zoom R16 for those - one of them gave me a good New Order sound, which I was chuffed with.

Then there's the vocoder part, from the Korg again.

And all done in three hours...

This is fabulous - you've hit everything just right IMO and in 3 hours - crikey!
