Great recording guys but the vocal is definitely behind the music a beat or so. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing because the vocal timing does create a cool tension and it's different from the original. Great playing and singing Bruno and Hook!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Dooh - that was me!

64G - was WAV files via Skycloud. Was wondering how it went wrong - but I think I know.

When I sent Hook the first mix, I started recording the mix a couple of beats before music came is - this is because the BR doesn't have a count in function like on the Zoom's (this annoyed me when I first got the BR)- and I hate the drum machines beats/loops on their own. So when I exported to WAV, it must have picked up the audio start rather than 00:00. Hook recorded against that, sent me the WAV, I uploaded and my machine would still have the full count in - and so all out of sync (well it makes sense to me). As its all played against a click track, and the same BB its all perfectly in time - but offset.

When I was mixing it, I noticed that the chorus was a little delay but it sounds very cool, almost syncopated - and is a different slant on the song. Hook said he wasn't familiar with the song, so I kinda assumed that he wanted to sing it this way  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I will correct and post version 2 - I'll leave the original though, coz I think it sounds cool. I will probably need to re-record the solo guitar, coz I was playing against the vox track!!

You live and you learn!

What I usually do is create a simple custom pattern for the count-in consisting of four hits of the closed hi-hat or stick. If you can't be bothered to create a custom pattern, you might be able to use a preset. I'm not sure about the BR-1600's preset patterns but on most of the other BRs the first measure of preset P265:Cnty1 consists of four hits on the closed hi-hat. The trick is to stop it before it starts playing the second measure of the pattern. You do that by creating an arrangement with P265:Cnty1 in step 1 starting at measure 1, and some other pattern in step 2 starting at measure 2. If you want eight clicks for the count-in instead of four, then you need an extra step.

Pattern
11P265:Cnty1
22P265:Cnty1

If you only want the count-in and no other patterns, just set the step after the count-in to P327:BREAK.

It's easy and provides a suitable count-in that's less annoying than the metronome patterns.

I much prefer the second version but I'd still like to hear the vox up a bit in the mix IMO - it's such a glorious vox Hook has done - but that's just me :)

Yeah Haylie - I tend to agree, I pushed it up to the point that it starts to clip. I equalized the level the levels, but that didn't help. I may try doubling the vox, or using some EQ to bring it up a bit - that will have to wait for the weekend though!

And yeah, the vocals are monster!

;D

Who is generating all those testosterone-fueled guitar balls?

The lady guitars may have something to say about that.
