Sometimes things get a bit to serious.

The Donna Summer original is in my all time top 10, so I was a bit wary of watching this. I thought they might have murdered it, but it's absolutely f*cking AWESOME! WOW! Thanks for posting it!

Oh well ........

I still have the flexible record of "The Attitude Song" which was stapled into an issue of Guitar Player magazine in the early eighties when I'd never heard of Steve Vai. The magazine also included a complete transcription of the song by Steve Vai himself, though it didn't help me in the least. :)  I remember that, in one part of the transcription, he inserted a note that said something like "Play all Es on the fretboard simultaneously".

At the time, I was blown away by this song. But since then, I haven't really been into Vai's music. He's a great guitar player but his style of music just isn't my cup of tea. I'd much rather listen to Joe Satriani for that style of music. But I still like "The Attitude Song". I even bought the CD ("Flex-Able") containing that song a few years later.

I prefer the original 1984 studio recording over that orchestra-accompanied version though.

I love that huge pitch shift thing at 0:50 to 0:54.

I've never been a fan of gratuitous guitar soloing...but jeez I'll take the Purple One over those other guitar wankers any day.

I'm not really a Prince fan. But he's just gone up in my estimation by the power of a million. And he looked so f*cking cool and nonchalant doing it! Genius. Love his Tele too.

Although I do not own, and probably never will own, one thing of music from Prince, I have always had a lot of respect for him as a musician. He just keeps on doing his own thing, be damned what people think he should do. And I had forgotten how good of a guitar player he is. That was badass!

You don't get to say this very often: There's a great quote from the YouTube comments:

A near perfect blend of showmanship, musicianship, and gimmickry.
