I simply can't figure this thing out.  The patterns listed on the arranger program don't match the patterns on the micro.  What am I missing here?

Hmmm. Dont really understand your situation  :o
What you wanna do is make your own drum arrangements(worked out nice for me :))
Anyway how to do this is on page 83-87  in the manuel ;D
Hope my advice helped you out :)
If you loose track over a chord progression, play as fast as you possibly can. Nobody will know. Thats how they invented bebop.
