Thanks much for the great info.  It explains a lot.  Those are sweet guitars! (except for the price of the high-end ones....  :-\ )

This brings up an interesting idea.  Can regular humbuckers be rewired for this function?  I'm a tech and it would seem to be easy enough or at least could replace the PUs and add a switch.  Time for some Google searching.  ;D

Tony, that just makes me drool.  I like how you have them all out on the wall.  Very nice.  And they are all so shiny and clean.  I have to get a space like this all set up just for me and my music stuff.  All my stuff is in the corner of my dining room right now.  I have to keep putting everything away when I am done each night.  Can I come over to your house and play with your toys?  :D

That's the problem with owning multiple guitars. You need to have a space where you can leave them out and simply pick up whichever guitar you feel like playing at the moment. If they're all packed away in a closet except for one, then you'll tend to always use that one guitar because it's too much trouble to get another one out of the closet.

I don't have room in my house to leave multiple guitars out. That's why I want to get a Roland VG-99 Virtual Guitar System. It models many classic electric guitars such as the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, Rickenbacker, ES-335, and L4. It also models Martin, Gibson, and Guild acoustic guitars, Fender bass guitars, nylon string guitars, 12-string guitars, Dobro, banjo, sitar, and more. And it has two separate channels, each with an incredible array of effects and amp models, so you can play two different guitar sounds at the same time through different effects and amp models, all from a single guitar.

Sure, a roomful of great guitars would be better. But I'll never have the space for them, nor the money to buy them, so a VG-99 is a very practical compromise.

Greeny

There's only one guitar I couldn't be without, and that's my telecaster. For rhythm playing with real twang and sparkle, it's unbeatable. I love the meaty tones of my P90 single-coil equipped Les Paul for rock leads, and my Hofner Verythin can cover a lot of ground with it's rich, classy tones, but the Tele just suits my playing perfectly. It's a real workhorse, and appears on a good 80% of my songs.

I'm not a 'Fender guy' though - I'd just about choose an LP for lead over a Strat, but that's only because I'd just about choose Peter Green over Rory Gallagher (if I had to, because I love both of them...). They both have their places though, and it's pretty clear that they are both near-perfect guitar designs that will be around forever.

Nicely said Greeny, It is pretty close in my books also between the Peter Green sound and the Rory Gallagher sound, Rory wins it by a hair for me.  Something about his wild abandon gets me and the clarity of his notes, even in the midst of a fiery run.

I also love the Telcaster sound (mayby my next guitar If I strike it rich  :D).  Your tele sounds really good in your hands, you play it well.
