This came about on the spur of the moment yesterday afternoon.  I was all set to cover a Stranglers song to try out my new bass, instead I ended up covering this classic from my youf.  It's one of those standard bass riffs that anyone can play.

I did toy with re-writing the lyrics since Cambodia is genuinely a holiday desination that I want to go to (I love that part of the world), but in the end I stuck to the original lyrics (although I did substitute one n-word for another less contraversial one).

I was very happy with how the new bass played.  Had to spend quite a while getting the guitar parts down (with the help of my Zoom multi effects and Biyang analogue delay pedals).  Drums wre programmed using my BOSS DR5 DrRythm. Obviously my vocal talents are not really up to taking on Jello Biafro.

Excellent stuff. Bass sounds awesome. Playing and production is pure class. I prefer your voice to Jello's but please don't tell him.  ;)

Man, this is goooood!! Love the drive and your new killer bass. The guitar and vox are fantastic as well.

The cool tele twang reminds me of the B-52's a bit.

Planning was the key, I spent my lunch hour in work mapping the song out and boiling it down to 7 or eight drum patterns and how they worked together.  Programming and recording the drum parts took less than an hour.  I like to get a bit of a live feel by adding crash cymbols and occasional additional snares while recording.  I have a BOSS DR-5 DrRhyth section which is like 15 years old.
