A DVD Video Tutorial for the Boss BR-800 is now available from ProAudioDVDs for $29.95 US (about £18 UK).

I've watched nearly all of the ProAudioDVDs tutorials (except this one) and I think they're quite good, especially for beginners or anyone having difficulty understanding all of the many features of their recorder. David Wills (the guy behind ProAudioDVDs) does an excellent job of explaining everything very clearly without getting overly technical. He really knows his stuff and has worked with many top musicians including Phil Collins, Chicago, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin.

Here are a few short excerpts from the BR-800 tutorial:

Very cool, but I'm surprised they didn't hold off on the release of this video. If the track editing features are added back in, I wonder if they will release a separate vid on it.

Good question, Tony.  I'll try to find out from David.

I got a reply from David Wills at ProAudioDVDs. He's pretty busy right now producing some Zoom tutorials, so he can't really give us a firm commitment until he's finished those and has a chance to look at the actual BR-800 update from Boss. But I got the impression that he's basically in favour of the idea of a short follow-up video just to explain the new editing features of the BR-800. He said that, if he does make a short follow-up video, it will be free of charge, probably as a download on YouTube.

So anyone who's interested in ordering the BR-800 DVD now won't have to worry about paying more money later for an update. If he does make an update, it will be free.

Outstanding. I had one of his vids for the 1600, and it was fantastic. I can't wait to get my hands on the new one. Being a relative novice, I have a difficulty understanding the terminology mostly. That and I'm too lazy to actually RTFM (read the F'ing manual). I'm a visual learner, not one to learn from reading.

I'll order mine tomorrow.

Since the firmware update was such a let down, I went ahead and purchased the DVD today.

I don't know...roland work flow and menu logic were always very intuitive to me and never had to look into manuals.
Been playing roland keyboards and workstations for years so I don't think I will ever need any instructional DVD for such simple recorders like BR-800.

p.s.
on the other hand when I switched to yamaha workstation I couldn't do a single thing without manual  ::)

Yeah I like the videos too.  David Wills seems like a pretty cool guy and he does a great job demoing everything.

My DVD is in, I'll give a short review on it after the first watch, then hopefully a comprehensive one once i start tweaking.

If I watch the DVD with BR-800 in hand on the first go, I'll miss so much stuff! I'm a tweaker.

Hey guys, I am about to purchase the DVD. Have any of you purchased the online version access of his videos over the physical DVD? Just I may buy them that way as opposed to physical DVD. I am not sure may just be better to have physical copy.
