coming from glasgow josef k were and are a special band for me,  i was young and daft and in my prime when i saw them, i was at their farewell gig in maestros, tripping over edwin collin's brothel creepers on the dance floor, and meeting paul haig afterwards in the blue lagoon chippy, i vaguely remember him asking for salt and sauce and getting a strange look from the girl behind the counter, but i might have muddled that up wi someone else. im sure paul was from edinburgh where they have salt and sauce on their chips, in glasgow we have salt and vinegar, edinburgh? athens of the north? bloody savages.salt and sauce indeed.

anyway i really enjoyed this one especially the congas. and got the guitar out for the first time in ages, my hands are aching now. anyway josef k are probably glasgows most influential band, but not many people outside the uk have heard of them i would imagine. anyway ive tried to be faithful to the original but you know me i cannea help masel. here you go it's kinda funny

It's kinda good...really good. Sweet ambiance and instrumentation. I like the vocals - a little more straight ahead for you. Sounds good that way.

Oh well ........

Never heard of 'em! But I like this a lot. Feels like a good fit for the ORH style. It's a real grower too. Belter.

p.s. You've made me want some fish and chips now! (with salt and vinegar... what else do you need?).

Greeny

Just listening to the original. There's clearly a lot of bands who have been influenced by this sound. Franz Ferdinand and the Editors in particular. It's real classic Indie stuff. And you did a great cover of it!

cuthbert

I've heard of Josef K, but never got around to checking out any of their stuff (I'll check out the vid in a moment). Cool to hear you on the guitar, Jim - nice production along with the Juno. Nice change with the vocals as well.

"Salt and sauce" on chips? What's the sauce? ???

nice post Jim. That faint guitar work sounded pretty competent for somebody who doesn't play it much. Great vox, I'll be checking out the band a bit.
