Another quick and dirty midi draft born this morning. I'm still having a temperature, so the middle part may be a result of delirium. ;) :D

I've tried to come up with some lyrics....theres a couple good lines.....perhaps we can write this together if you think it worth it?

stoman

Thanks, Cato, I'm glad you are interested in my ideas. :) Feel free to tell me about any changes to the music you would like. My midi drafts are usually done within less than 30 minutes, so they are far from complete.

As for the lyrics: I'm not a lyricist, and I think I could not write a decent line if my life depended on it. All the more because English is not my native tongue. But there are some great lyricists here at songcrafters, and some more at the site where I spend most of my time.

  Steffen

Hum....well...what would you suggest?   What's the other site you frequent?
I'm out for the evening so I'll have to send the "Alive" song tracks later. I'd like to do a better job of it though. Do you hear it in any specific way....what should be changed do you think?  :)

Cato, I think you should not worry too much about the quality of your vocals (which I think is awesome, and I'm known to be a terrible perfectionist!) until we have all parts of the song done. Rough tracks will do for now - but still I would prefer tracks that are technically mixable, i.e. lossless (no mp3/ogg or whatsoever), completely dry and solo (no combined tracks). Mono seps would be perfect for vocals. :)

The other site I mentioned is www.musicianscollaboration.com - that's where most of my collabs are done.

Hi Steffen
Ok....however, I'm not sure what to send other than mp3?  That's the only way I know how at this point, unless you can give me some direction?

What do you record with (hardware/software), Cato? Do you use a DAW (digital audio workstation) like Cubase, Logic, ProTools, ...? Or a simple audio editor like Audacity? All those programs can export lossless audio files - at least in uncompressed WAV format. FLAC and APE are lossless compression formats that can squeeze the size of a WAV file a lot but are not supported by all programs. However there are freely available encoders/decoders for all major operating systems.

Audacity usually has built-in support for FLAC.

Oh, and I recommend a free file hoster like www.file-upload.net to deposit large files. :)

P.S.: No rush! :)

Hi Steffen
I record vocals using the micro br. I have garageband, but I haven't used vocals on there yet. I use garageband    for transferring stuff from micro br onto garageband or creating new sounds from the software instruments.

Hi Cato,

Pick up the BOSS BR 2.0 Wave Converter, connect your Micro BR to your computer via the USB cable, and then you can export a 16 bit 44 kHz uncompressed WAV or AIFF file for each track.

Hope it helps,
cuthbert

p.s. Oh, and you've got some rocking vocals!  :)

Thanks Cuthbert
I'm really confused here. Does the MicroBR only convert to mp3?
So when I finish recording a track.....in order to send it, I must convert it to......mp3 and then use the Boss 2.0 Wave Converter to convert it again to a wave file?
What is the difference between mp3 and wave files?
Thanks
Kate
