A big WOW from me, great sounds, great vox, great collab. Love the twangy guitar solo, everything sounds great together. Very clever if you worked on this independently rather than shoot stuff backwards and forwards.

Cheers,

Nigel

Thank you for the kind comments my friends !!

This was really fun to do. I've got some comments earlier that I sounded like mr Black, so I figured I should do one of his songs. The big challenge was getting the drums right, but after selecting the jazz kit it amazingly fell into place with the ROCK1-pattern (+ some others for fills/ending).

Some more detailed info :
There's three takes with acoustic guitar. Two plugged and one with the mbr mic. That last one is copied with .7 delay and the 4 tracks are panned full left/right. There's two electric guitar tracks. The one in the left channel is the one that takes the lead parts. It was done in one take (that is, no punch-ins) to give it a more "live" feel. That's why there's only one el. rythm on the solos and why the solos are a bit sloppy (didn't have time to redo the whole track any more times ... I think this was the third take ...) and panned a bit to the left.

The song also is the first to feature my new (but rather old) Technics el-piano. There's a good reason it's low in the mix ;D

Departing from my new policy on recording vox dry or with P04: Only lmt, I this time used P03:Ag3 Cmp. The vox are recorded a tad hot, but I was quite pleased with the take so I didn't wanna redo it.

Mark send me the bass after I had recorded the first guitars and vox, and tho we had agreed on tempo and key I was amazed that it fitted right in. And what a brilliant bass!! I love how it glued the song together and creates harmonies to the vox. Thank you Mark !!!!

More Black stuff may come later  ;)

cheers

What?  You mean that launched recorded the bass without the benefit of any Norwegian reference tracks?  And it just worked?  That's really impressive.
