P.S as they say play it loud

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Thanks Tim for inviting me in on this great song....great fun trying to conjure up my inner Neil and play along as best as I could.....for the guitar I used Keith's Gretsch semi-hollow with flat wounds which is a real fine guitar and Neil played a Gretsch a lot on these recordings, probably on this song. Lovely cover Tim very heartfelt

I'm not familiar with the original, but the mournful, wide-open-spaces guitar work is thrilling, and the vocal work feels very immediate, fully capturing the sorrowful lament of the lyrics. Very nicely done!

Jean Pierre

Excellent, the addition of BB's guitar is very well done and Tim has a voice to sing Neil Young songs.
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Tim,

I really enjoyed this one. Didn't know the song but it has given me the urge to explore a bit of NY. Yeah great track, beautiful vocal and Dave's addition are a perfect fit. Gonna chill out to this again.

Yeah love it. Excellent chaps.

A real good cover of NY's song, Cortez The Killer. Excellent vocals Tim and Dave's lead guitar sounds so good with the Gretsch. Nicely done fellas!

A masterclass in mood. Those volume-pedal come in at the beginning like a fog, introducing the song's melancholy. TBP's vocals capture the song's sorrow beautifully. And Dave's additions are perfectly brooding. You've reinterpreted the heart of the song (but not in a legally problematic way). The restraint is impressive and devastating. Gorgeous work.

I've been tempted to cover this several times – only because I went to Cortez High School, in Phoenix, Arizona. I usually come to the conclusion that that's not enough of a reason to do the song. But, over the several times I've considered it, I've learned Neil Young knows his "Cortez the Killer" takes liberties with history – he put Cortés' name on a song that's really about the broader devastation of the Spanish conquest. (Yes, Hernán Cortés led the fall of the Aztec Empire, but as far as conquistadors go, he was mid-tier in sheer brutality — Pizarro and de Soto left far bloodier legacies.)

Zuma, the most underrated album in the catalog. I am slightly convinced Dave would agree lol.

This recording has the feel for sure, well done to both of you. The volume knob is a powerful tool, anything with a knob is powerful but I enjoy when someone makes good use of it this way.

I caught some tasty crunch in the rhythm guitars and Dave you were the perfect match for the solo work.

Yes, I love it

This hits the spot. I first heard this in the car and was immediately transported to higher levels. The mood, the airy melodies and the vocs. Ear candy.

Great collaboration!
