When I initially wrote this song I realised immediately I would not be able to sing it well. So, I asked for Nick's help and help he did by presenting me with a fantastic vocal in his own inimitable style.. Many thanks to him.

Don't ask
If you're on my mind much these days
If I walk around in a trance flat-footed
In a haze or if I've changed my ways
Don't laugh
If you see me in the same old clothes
A little unkempt, undone, unwashed
And the melancholia shows.

I don't know why
I still feel so shot to hell
I don't know why
My eyes still light up
When you enter the room
So don't ask.

Don't ask
If I still visit that bar on Main Street East
If I'm ok within, moved on, comfortable at peace
Don't ask
If I'm eating too many microwaved meals
If I'm seeing anyone new or how this freedom feels

I don't know why
I still watch our old favourite TV shows
I don't know why
I still play our old favourite songs
So don't ask.

This is ridiculously good. Loads of space for Pipes to exhibit his phrasing. Lovely bed for him to sing over with some provocative chord changes. Elusively great tone on the nylon string. Lovely arranging as well. A next level post.

Back to listen on cans and still mightily impressed.  Lyrics are devastatingly poignant and - naturally - delivered with Nick's usual panache.  And the nylon solo is a thing of beauty.

Excellent.  You two work well together.

the really cool thing about this is that Nick actually sings a bit different than many of the other songs I have heard him on...

to be fair to you Ray... you are a great vocalist in your own right.  I think you could have sung this fine.. however I totally get the intrique with Nicks vocals.. to me they go to the stratosphere...

the music is spectacular as is the lyrics.. could have let that lead wind up a while though... but the song is great as is.

Great track, has a classic 80s pop vibe. I love the beautiful clean guitars and the chord modulations are excellent. Excellent vocals too, it sounds like a classic!
